Requires patience

(5/5) Reviewed by User: Wastegash00107 on Fri Jul 13 2007
Very complete and in depth game. Has a huge range of features but to use all of them keys are required which cost €5 per key. Game involves creating an empire by building ships and settling planets. This can be done to some extent free but buying keys provides a better gaming experience. Also a newbie arena and a comprehensive manual so that the basics can be learnt without the threat of being destroyed by an uber player. Overall a very good game that requires some patience due to its depth.

THis game is kinda hard to learn at first, but once you get how to play it, it is the BEST!!! I have been playing for over a couple years now... It rocks. Try it, and dont give up. Ask question, join the forum, read the manual, etc. are all ways to get how to play it if you don't understand. There are a bunch more ways to learn how to play... If you need help learning how to play, join the forum and PM CanadaBoy, that's me. My empire is Demilict.

ALso, it's free, but if you put in $7, you can unlock the arena and learn how that $7, beer money, is worth it.

Yes, you have to pay to get the tech limit removed, which isn't expensive at all. but even if you don't remove the tech limit its still a dam good laugh, testing yourself and your tactics, after every arena you come away having learned something new,

This is possibly one of the best games I've played(after they removed the 2 week non-pay timer). Most people say its a bad game but it's not. Those people just say its bad cause they don't actually take the time to see how everything works. You don't need to pay to do good you just need to manage youre ships, planets, and research and you'll do fine.

Ferion: Amazing Multiplayer Online game.

(5/5) Reviewed by User: alex1908 on Thu Dec 15 2005
Ferion is, like many popular online games, turn-based. This high-tech game allows you to enter special arenas and compete with other civilisations.
The concept of the game is to research, build, and conquer in your path to become the best player in the arenas. Handily, there are seperate arenas for the new guys of the game, the intermidiate fellows and private arenas. Research advanced technology, build complex buildings and mighty warships, or become a peaceful empire of trade and alliance. It really is up to you.
I would rate Ferion with 5 stars, as I and many other players enjoy the storyline of the game and the fantastic graphic work done by the designer. Sign up by clicking on the following link: http://www.ferion.com/?p=305628 , and enjoy the wonder that is Ferion. Game on!!

Good, but it has its problems

(3/5) Reviewed by User: Deshuvah on Sun Nov 27 2005
I recently began playing Ferion and I enjoy the game a lot, and it is one of the few online games that has kept my attention for more than a few weeks. Ferion can be difficult to learn but there is a newbie training arena and a forum full of (mostly) helpful people, as well as a fairly comprehensive user manual. Games progress at one turn an hour (some arenas one turn every three hours), giving the player time to settle planets, build ships, trade ore, give orders, set research and more. Overall the game is complex and interesting, but it does have its problems. Ferion seems besieged by technical problems and arenas are often down. Though most of the players are friendly and helpful (even the ones who are kicking your a**) there are a few which are all too happy to take advantage of newcomers. Also, I feel the keys are a bit too expensive. A person can play in any arena for free, but must purchase a key to access advanced research and have any hope of winning. If you play for free, you will never win.

If I had to change anything about the game itself, it would be the trade screen. I would like to have the ability to trade more than ore - trading money or ships would be a huge plus.

I recommend this to anyone who enjoys a complex technical strategy game, and who has lots of patience.

good game, bad admins

(5/5) Reviewed by User: Enderlandia on Wed Nov 23 2005
Game is expensive as ammount of money (5 euro). But this money are not daily, but even for 6 months of a play. Depend from you how long the adventure will last.

It is like chess for 200 people at the same time, on a huge board.
Game is very balanced in all his features, wich make the wars between people to last whole months sometimes.

Negative is the "fashion" gameplay and the admins. There are a couple of people called admins, that are running everything- on the 20 (?!!!) games/universes running at the same time. Admins totally sux (it's a woman the main admin in a war game, this sais it all).
Admins do not know enought good their own game. They often cannot even understand the disputes (to not speak of their corruption and total lack of manners), what to speak of a real judgement on a trouble?
Then they do massive censorship and locking (even with all the not used money in the accounts) to everybody that (like me) does not agree that they are the best admins on the world...

This made many scandals, cose of the lack of authority (what autority from such admins?)and many of the oldest players ran away.
Otherwise, there are still actively playing people after 4 years without stopping...

Invested time does not mean win. this is the best.
You can easily win your game, without waste more than 10 minutes per day, and be totally competitive and win over people that spend in front of the computer 20 hours per day.
But is not a game for people with low Intelligence Quocient.
It is mainly psicological, so dumb guys just do not live if there is anybody close to them.

Excellent Game, this game really can call itself a 'Strategy' game. Never have i seen so many features and freedom in a game, very well balanced.

At first the game looked to complicated, but once i read the excellent manual (with walktrough), the game opened up to me and I couldn't stop playing.

This game makes every other browsergame look like pacman, try it!

The game is not that bad but it's too expensive at 7USD/key, it's taking too much of your time to have at least moderate success, is becoming uderpopulated (less players every arena) and the remaining "veteran" players are mostly rude people just waiting for fresh meat. If you wanna try it be careful with the bulgarian players. Don't trust them.

Ferion is a great game, though playing without a key is a pointless exercise as you will soon be destroyed by other players who have payed to play the game.Once you have purchased an unlocking key you have a far wider range of technologies at your disposal and with a bit of luck you may survive..

cool

(4/5) Reviewed by User: meanbob on Wed Apr 20 2005
it truly is a game like i've never seen on the net (and there are quite some who do look identical) and though the looks are good, it's the interaction with others that's most important.
as said elsewhere as well, it's about:

getting more planets (by first settling in new planets and then capturing planets from someone else)

build ships, wich you can desgin by choosing the number and the type of components/parts. that's a really cool feature i've never seen in simple (that means, you don't need the best pc to play it) games. a feature i haven't seen much in games general either.

and quite important, politics. inside (like taxes) and outside (other empires/players)
most important is outside politics. it's sometimes hard to choose wether to make war, and get more planets/ more power (if succesful) or make a treaty so neither of you can attack eachother for a set of hours and maybe trade ores.

the reason i've givin a star less then the max because there are too little options for ore-trade. you trade ores with other players, but only ore-for-ore and there's no way of selling or some other way of transferring cash. the only thing to do with ores is trading them for a set of things (5 or 6 ships and technology's)

FERION

(5/5) Reviewed by User: 01jbeaumont on Mon Apr 04 2005
As you can see it either gets a really good rating of 5 or a few people give it a bad rating. The people who give it a bad rating haven't spent time playing the game. They looked at the playing screen, pressed a few buttons and then turned it off because they didn't understand it. If they had read the full arena walkthrough which explains how to do it in a fun and interesting way (instead of reading a boring manual) then they would have been enthralled in this game it is excellent. Its not like other space strategy game where your planets are a couple of co-ordinates and you don't understand what you're doing. There is a map of the whole galaxy. You can clearly see where all your planets and ships are(and your enenmy aswell) and you can co-ordinate attacks easily. There are many different projects to research. The more you research the better buildings (such as defences) you can build and the better ships you can design.

It is one for all ages, although it takes a couple of games to master how to manage your ships & worlds, once you have the basic idea of movement & build time, it's then "ShowTime". I recommend it to everyone, even if you do not like gaming!

Purist Strategy

(5/5) Reviewed by User: Redeye on Tue Oct 26 2004
An utterly engrossing turn based browser game where you build a space empire and try to dominate the 'Arena' by owning 50% of the population, or 75% in an alliance. This is a sophisticated strategy game that is extremely well balanced, easy to play and lots of fun - even novices can compete, though beware Ferion is taken rather seriously by some players. The game contains very little in the way of randomisation, in fact, so player skill and strategy is paramount for a succesful arena.
This is a purists strategy game with a slick and highly professional presentation.
If strategy is your cup of tea, then drink up with Ferion.

This game isn't really the type of game for all gamers. This is a game for "The Gamer". I, myself, have excelled in many games. Most left me wanting more out of it. Ferion is quite the thinking game. No real-time fighting. It goes by the hour or, as they call it in the game, Ticks. You make your move by what you know at that hour. Create your own ships to destroy or settle planets. This is my new addiction! Give it a shot! A must play!

You settle planets, research new sciences and technology, and you can even make your own ship prototypes to maximize speed or power, ect! You interact with thousands of other players online at once, and the best part is, this game isn't dominated by power-alliances!

It is by far the best online strategy game I have ever played! You even have the option to purchase "keys" and unlock special features in the game! Of course, it is completely free if you choose not to.

Ferion is not like other Online Games becuase those other Online Games, usually depends just on how many times you can get people pressing your link or things like that, and that becomes boring in minutes.
In Ferion you play arenas that start every week, and once there, you must try to win by killing every one, forming a large-in-territory alliance or in any other way the arena permits. In Ferion you start with one planet and some money, and you must conquer planets, research new technology and build the ships you will fight with, even design them!!!
You don't need a fast connection, I play it with my 56k modem and there's no problem at all.
