An addicting, worldwide text-based phenomenon
Game: Aegis
What are you looking for in an online game? If you want cutting edge graphics and edge-of-your-seat action, Aegis is not the game for you. But, if you are looking for a vibrant global gaming community with many friendly and knowledgeable players, a staff that will listen to you and constantly updates the game, and a free gaming experience that can last you for months if you wish, you should consider giving Aegis a try.Aegis is, succinctly, a turn-based text RPG. It requires no download and is easy to access on any speed connection. Set in Earth’s medieval era, the ultimate goal is to become the most valuable player in the game and establish your own dynasty by doing so. But there are many ways to get to the emperor’s throne. Do you want to be a scientific explorer? A noble king? A cruel tyrant? A magic-wielding lunatic? All are possible.
When you create a new account, you will immediately be presented with a variety of building options. Do you need farms to feed your hungry populace? Or maybe you should focus on city walls and towers to add some security. Perhaps you would like to buy your way to good fortune—be sure to build some markets along the way. Each of the 4500+ active players of Aegis have a different playing strategy.
Though the game can be a bit tough to learn at first, many of the 4500+ players of Aegis are more than willing to help out newbies. And an online help guide will show you how to run your province for the first 50 turns to make certain you do not meet an early demise. If you still get stuck, you can join a kingdom—-many of the 200+ kingdoms of Aegis are full of experienced players. And be sure to check out the kingdom, empire, and Aarcsoft forums where players make posts on a daily basis about game questions, strategy, and general Aegis news.
Perhaps the one drawback of Aegis is the donations system. Although you can easily play Aegis without sending the creators any compensation (and fully 80% of the community does just that), donators get certain bonuses. For example, they are able to use turns more quickly than non-donors. But whether you donate or not, Aegis is a rewarding and highly recommended gaming experience. There is a reason why many players such as I have been playing for half a year or more—it’s just that addicting!
