A word of warning...this game is completely addictive! AEGIS is a complex world, well designed to let you take the reins and create a tiny province from humble beginnings. Start with 100 turns to get established and accrue one turn every 'real world' hour to a maximum 'bank' of 100 turns. Play well and your tiny village may one day grow up to be a mighty city with you sitting in the imperial palace...ruling the entire continent! Your choices throughout the game will play an integral part in how your province fares...You can choose to be an agressive war-mongering warrior, pillaging and plundering across the countryside, but know that each action may have it's consequences. Your victims may band together to retaliate! Choose to grow a peaceful and prosperous province, but also know that the more sucessful your province grows...greedy eyes will be watching your progress. It would be wise to have your own strong defensive army and strong walls around your city or the alliance of powerful friends. Join one of dozens of kingdoms...each unique and offering a different outlook and code of conduct (as well as a variable measure of protection). Or be bold and create your own kingdom, placing the crown on your own head and wait for vassals to pledge allegiance to your kingdom.
By far the greatest strength of AEGIS is it's active community of players. You'll find most players eager to help with resources and advice. New players are valued and generally respected for the fresh perspective they bring. A new player can join knowing little or nothing and get up to speed relatively quickly with the thoughtful written resources and by asking useful questions of experienced players. The creators are continuously active in developing and refining the game in response to player feedback.
If you haven't already joined, it's well worth looking at. The longer you play, the more complex and interesting the game becomes. AEGIS is an absolutely free game that would actually be worth paying for.
