A game that is hosted by one person and played actively by about a dozen people. They use new players to advance their own play. When you search the forum you'll find comments of how vets dominate new player servers (how they allow old players on a server supposedly for new people I don't know). How new players go inactive because they are constantly farmed by old players. How the old players will try and justify their actions and even call it a learning experience for new player. Which would be find if you had any idea how to play to begin with or someone showed you.

A quote from their forum, on the how things work on the server designed for new players:
"There are few Vets just choke the top and pound on these new players who are exploring their interest in the game. You have two other servers to feel all powerful and clog the top. Why would you and you are ... destroy peoples interest int his game?"

a quote on a server that is designed for everyone "Bah...its all irrelivant. The newbie killed had already quit and purposely dropped low on forts for death. I get more aggravated at WHY he dropped so low to die..because VETs had been farming him all set.."

"I believe it is worthy to note that for such an experienced 'noob training' guild, they do kill noobies, for no reason..."

These are from their own players on their forum.

So be wary of trying the game out. The game is played by the same handful of people that have been playing for years. The rest of you are just cannon fodder in their game.

Find something better.

Great Game, Great Community

I have played a number of text-based game over recent years, some of them I only played a number of times and other maybe a few weeks perhaps. The Five Pillars is probably the only text-based game I have played where I stayed the longest.

I could tell you that the game is great, but all other text based games are also great if you ask their loyal followers. and truth be told, some elements of this game can be found on other games in this genre.

But what set the game apart, and what keeps me coming back for more is the community. It might not have a big community but it is very active and very helpful to new players. In a way the community has become my virtual family, where i would always hang out after a long day in the office and when I desperately needed to unwind.

Terribly addictive....

I've been playing this game since 2003. It might be a bit hard to play in the start, but if you give it a week you'll be addicted!

Extraordinairy!

Its a great game no downloads needed, friendly to dial up users, easy to learn the basics but with a huge variety of creatures, spells, abilities, Heroes, etc there is heaps to learn. The game is continually evolving (always being updated) so you will never know everything, everyone is welcome to make suggestions about the game as to how they would like to see it updated on the T5P forum.
There are any number of goals you can strive for and numerous strategies you can apply to achieve them with great potential for role play, war and ranking (Having the largest kingdom and most land you can get).
I highly recommend this game as a great strategy and community game. :)
