This game is okay. Nothing is challenging, some things are pointless. Though the game is addicting, to addicting. My friend is obsessed he says he plays it for about 4 hours A FRICKEN DAY but in summer all day. DONT PLAY THIS GAME IF YOUDONT WANT TO BE A ZOMBIE!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Was is a cheap knock off a lazy java game, that realy is trying to get your credit card numbers. This crap fest is worth nothing more than 0 out of 10. Sure you get to play with 2000 people, but what point does it have? What do you get after playing 600+ hours on it, the feeling you lost half your life. Don't play it! Don't even think entering the site!

Its never worth it, try knightonlineworld.com for a more enjoyable experiance

At first I liked this game. But after about a week, it got SO old. The game runs slowly and confusingly. Go to www.terragaming.net and play terraworld. It has the mideivel fantasy, and runs a lot faster is a much better. Runscape is very slow moving. If your looking for a cool onlive game, don't play this, play terraworld.

A very nice game but provides almost no challange unless your a PK (player killer) then this can get some level of challange.
other than that its just a pretty game with a high level of mind numbing stupidity

I play runescape 2(The newer and updated version) which i much more prefer, but its all basically the same so ill tell all you new-comers about the game...

Runescape is a MMORPG(Massivse Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Game) which alot of people play, for newcomers my account name is Giac Jr and i play regulary, you can pay AUD$8.50 to become a member, IT IS SOOOO GOOD! basically as a member you can go ANYWHERE you like, and you get(in the new version) 5 more skills you can use at YOUR DISPOSAL! Now ill tell you how Runescape was made....

now Andrew had loads of MMORPG games he was going to make, so he looked throught them all, and eyed runescape, now he liked the idea so he started on it.
and i think it was 2 years later it was finished, so now it has all the stuff its got.

I am a Mage, Warrior and a Ranger.
i can do 17s with melee and 15 with magic and a low 10 with ranged.

Hello All,

This is my first review so I hope I get this right, ok then lets start.

Runescape is a massive mmorpg and is played worldwide normally by the American, British, Canadian Citizens etc. Go on http://www.runescape.com it has different servers for different countries, although some people don't stick with them (anyone can go on any server). On the subject of servers, the fullest world is the best for trading and getting free items - if you are a noob ( a phrase determining a new person or a person that is disliked) the more experienced members may come over to give them simple items such as flour, pot, bucket and other items they may not need.

There is plenty to do in runescape as there are big realms, many people dislike Runescape, Jagex and owner Andrew Gower (on www.urbandictionary.com it has the feelings of people when you search jagex, andrew gower or jagex)as the fees are $5 a month, and the skills available to members are one sided.

More than Half of the runescape world is reserved for members only and many users get frustrated by the lack of vvariety after comleting a fair amount of free things.

The skills are probably the most important as they determine how good your character is. It is fun trying to train but soon becomes boring. Skills like mining ans smithing take thousands of skill exp to gain an extra level and will soon become boring.

In years back, many users tried to cheat with "auto'ers" such as autominers that kept mining for you. Jagex fixed this by making random events, such as genies and mysterious old man: if you respond correctly they will give you certain items that will help you and there are also shades, rock golems, tree spirits and other monsters that are higher level than you and will require escaping.

Quests are the funner, but the most annoying aspect of runescape as they can provide you with very large rewards, but will take quite a time to collect items and bring them to people or kill monsters and evade some etc. correctly for the completion of these.

The whole basic agenda of the name runescape is upon two ways, runes, which are used to cast spells but disappear after usage and there is a famous quest that teaches you how to make your own runes! The highest non member armor and weapon is probably rune i.e. rune 2 handed sword and the defence levels (if they are 40 or higher, allow for the items to be worn or equipped. The same is applied for attack levels and the more difficult magic attacks are in use whilst you boost your "magic" level.

I hope this helps. Runescape is quite fun at first but after weeks or months it becomes boring, unless you become addicted!

I'd recommend this game to anyone, as it is free and one of those games you can play for ages. In my opinion its one fault is the factor of being overcrowded as it is a very popular game. The graphics are immpressive with lots of different faces. You can choose a charactor appearence and gradually get stronger and take part in quests. There is loads of things to do other then this, though. You can battle other players to gain experience to grow levels. There is also the annoying factor of having to go through the hole tutorial, which is quite long but at least it helps you get through the game!
Try this game, it's pretty cool.

Where do i start i mean this game is awsome you can do just about anything you want.You can mine,smith kill creatures and if your in the wilderness you get to kill other players, you get to use magic, you get to cook and you get to fish. Basically this game rocks from mining to fighting there is always stuff to do on runescape.

though i have to say i highly enjoyed the game and the fact that its getting better by the day is needless to say great. camra is good but after a while it gets a bit stale, many will disagree but me and 3 friends played for years untill we finally lost intrest. id say its definately worth it. and becomeing a member only adds to the game! if you can play this game for over 3 years pat yourself on the back!

I have been playing this game for several years now. I will point out some basic points for it, but before that, some regular review stuff:

Graphics: So-so. They are not terrible, but dont even compete with games like everquest or world of warcraft. The game is 3d, but for the most part, height does not seem to matter (There are some times it does though). And it is based on tilesets that are easily visible. The good side for it is, it has many diffrent themes, including desert, haunted type places, jungle, city, village, viking, cave, plains, and many many more), and it has thousands of diffrent charactor appearences (most for NPC) and monsters.

Addictive: Yes, be prepaired to spend whole days playing this if you get addicted to video games.

Sound: Not too bad, dont really have much to comapir to...

Storyline: The game has a little to many story-lines, which can sometimes counterdict each other in small ways, but the individual ones are not bad. They reflect mythology, folktakes, and other sources from history (Egyptan pyramids, russian "koshey the deathless", and many more)

Skill: (The thing I was talking about in my into)

Most people think that this game requires nothing but clicking and time. While one can accomplish things useing this method, and at least a little clicking will always be needed(as with any other game,) one can get much more done if they have enough brains.

For instance, the two main goals of people are to gain possesions (cash, armor, relics(Phats, santa hats), and gain skills (skill levels)

While most (Herblore is an exceptions, some others are too) skills require no brains to get started, once you reach level 40 or higher, then you may need to start working with some ideas, but I will not get into that here, as probally by the time you reach level 40 in a skill, you will know what to do (Assuming your one of the few smart people)

Cash on the other hand requries brains from the start:

Most people obtain cash by cutting wood, and selling it, fishing, and selling the fish, or any other skill combo. This is a good way to make pocket change, and mabey if you do this for several weeks strait, no sleep, you might get somewhere.

But the real cash in-take is in out-smarting other players:

Merchanting: Buy low from the wood cutters on the field, and sell it high to people who need it despertly - requires some skill

Game secrets: Everybody says they dont exist. I would too if I couldn't find any. These secrets are self-protective: The more people know know them, the less each person gets, therfore nobody wants to tell them. And learning these secrets by accident, or through in-game methods is nearly impossible (1 in 30000 people might get them each month at most) The trick is convincing other STRANGERS to tell you. Requires good people skills, and ability to read people through text.

And the big fish of cash flow: Manipulating updates. There are updates every week, usually involving new items or skills. If you can figure out how item prices will go before they stabilize (about 2 weeks after release), you can easily make 3 million coins in 1 day (Alot) or lose it all. This should be as hard as predicting the stock-makert, but with more concrete stuff to go on.

Its a great game for ppl aged id say bout 11-(some old ppl play but they need to get a life) to about 16. Its not to hard, not to simple. If u like the simpler type of game, i suggest u play Runescape Classic. Which can b found if u scroll down the page on the homepage of www.runescape.com. I play rs classic myself. There are many thingz u can do like fighting monsters and stuff and pking (people killing dont ask me y its called that) which is where u go 2 dis place called the wilderness (or wild or wildy for short) this is my fav part of rs coz u can get lots of good stuff but u cood die 2...

Don't be fooled by the screenshot

The screenshot is soooooooo outdated.

By now, the game has moved on to a 3D stage, completely now graphics and LOTS of additions. The game has grown alot, with lots of special (good), valuable items.

I suggest having a look at the site, to see what it has turned to. It'll give you a more realistic, and less outdated view on the game.

Well I for one am a very big MMORPG fan and this is one of the best games put on the internet. I played this game when it was still in what is now known as classic. Here are my reasons for giving it 5/5!

1)No browser based download.
2)Constantly Updated.
3)Efficiant staff.
4)Very good quests,items, monsters, etc.
5)I have never seen the game at any time with less than 50000 players playing at a time.
And 6)Option to pay for members (all the things members contains

Runescape is a great game, I used to play it nearly 5hrs a week, but then it started getting worse, this was because i was too high to get most of my skills higher easy and it was taking me almost a week to get one level, and then i got hacked, and lost everything, (one of the high risks of runescape) so i decided to quit runescape, but when i went to find a new game to play i couldn't find any good ones, then a friend told me to come here and i found one and its better because i can't fall behind just because i don't play as much as others or if i get grounded for 1/2 a week it wont matter, because its turn based.

this is runescape classic i think the name should be changed but anyway this game has rather bad graphics but then again this is the outdated version there is a new one but still this game can become very addicting with many things to keep you occupied

Well... this is a very interesting game. At first, RuneScape seems very basic, as you will probably wander into a cow farm and up your stats a little. You don't actually realize the deepness of the game until you hit about combat level 10. Speaking of levels, this is not a game where you gain experience toward the next combat level and up all your stats. Instead, it uses a somewhat strange experience system that uses your main combat skills to determine your level:

Attack: Your accuracy and ability to wieild weapons.

Defence: Your ability to wear armour and block physical attacks.

Strength: Determines how much damage you do.

Prayer: One of my favorite skills, very hard to level up. Lets you call upon the power of the Gods to increase you stats temporarily.

Ranged: Your ability to wield and hit with ranged weapons. (Need Arrows&Bow or Crossbow&Bolts or throwing axes, darts, or throwing knives.)

Magic: Your ability to cast spells. (Need different types of runes.)

Slayer: A rather odd skill, there are some unkillable monsters in the game that require a certain slayer level to kill.


All these combat skills factor into your total level and combat level. The highest combat level is 126, and the highest skill level is 99.

But this game is so much more.

COMBAT-9/10


Now, the non-combat. Here are the skills:

Cooking: Your ability to make different food and burn food less.

Fishing: Your ability to catch fish.

Woodcutting: The first skill you'll learn and a favorite among newcomers.

Firemaking: Not a great skill, really. Lets you make fires.

Mining: Your ablility to mine different ores and materials and wield different pickaxes.

Smithing: Your ability to make weapons and armor out of ore mined form the ground.

Runecrafting: Making runes, which let you cast spells.

Crafting: Your ability to make objects such as clothes and glass.

Thieving: Lets you steal different items and amounts of money. Extremely useful and rewarding, especially in Relleka or Ardougne.

Fletching: Similar to crafting, lets you make more combat-oriented objects such as arrows.

Agility: Your ability to manuever past traps and other obstacles. Not very useful.

That about sums it up for noncombat.

NONCOMBAT- 10/10


Now, the community. Here are the types of people that you will find:

Complete Jerk: The title says it all.

Scammer: Someone always trying to steal your stuff or password.

Spammer: Says "..." alot and things like that.

Autoer: Someone who uses an auto-miner or auto-talker and is not actually playing RuneScape. Report these people immedeately.

n00b hater: Picks on newcomers or lures them into a dangerous place so they die.

Life Hater: Goes around saying "I hate Runescape".

Complete @$$: Goes around to lumbridge trying to pick up chicks. :/

And you'll occasionaly find:

True Friend: Someone who you can actually trust. Very rare.


COMMUNITY SCORE-6/10


Now the graphics and sound are nothing special. They're not awful or especially good (although I like the new theme that they added), but they do the job.

Now this is what I'm wondering about: Fun.

RuneScape is extremely addictive, so much that you can spend 12 hours sitting in front of the computer in a row, but is it FUN? It's extremely simple, just click on something to attack it, or mine it, or steal from it, ect. That doesn't seem fun, but you are so engrossed in it that you don't even notice!

FUN FACTOR: ?/10


Now the storyline. Not the game's strongest point, but not it's weakest, either. There's plenty of quests, each with their own story (there's no "find 15 silk pieces and you're done" quests) and the game's backstory is OK. It's kinda strange with all the gods there and all the Lesser Gods (Saradomin, Zamorak) defeating the Greater Gods (Zaros, Armadyl). It really seems ripped out of Greek mythology, but it's not that bad.

STORYLINE-8/10




So yeah, this is a great game. My favorite MMO of all time, actually. Play it, and get the members version. It's only $5 a month and I can't think of a better way to spend that!!!

although hard to start, like most MMORPGs, you can soon start to find ways to make money, improve skills, etc.

its awesome but the reason why i rate it 4 cause the reason cause when you die you lose all your stuff and a few of your equipment and sometimes people get lost and thats wy i wish you can transport to one place to another.

Review: me and my friend played for about 2 weeks, and had fun. But now if u walk around all you see is ppl getting scammed, and others swearing... its just not fun anymore. during the first week it was terribly addicting but then i read the other reviews on this site. 95% of all the ppl said that it was a good game but it was terribly addicting. it seems pretty good at first but then you realize? Whats the point? click, type, scam, swear, and click- thats what someone else said. Well its totally true. there is absolutely no point if you're thinking about playing this game plz DONT EVEN START!!!!!! ITS A TERRIBLE WASTE OF TIME!!!!
And in the end you'll realize that you could have done something much better with your time.

With about 20 skills, hundreds of monsters, and thousands of different monsters runescape is the bes online game ever invinted. With the creation of Runescape2 in 2004 the graphics have gone from a ton of sprites to actual 3d, and made runescape much better.

graphics were quite hard to see, because my eyes dont quite see that well, but all in all its fun as a secondary game if your games server is down. hell sometimes, you just might feel like playing it. THOUSANDS of people in a huge environment...but make sure to buy the monthly members account, not that expoensive, and worth it if you play this game atleast 5 days a month.

No Final Goal

Although runescape is a very large community with many different weapon types and levels to play on, and it is true that becoming a member does harbour many benefiets ( I wouldm't ever be one though ) this game has no final point to it, you do a handful of quests and that's it. I've asked a few people who play it after completing the quests and they say they play to get better, get better armor, better skills , higher levels and get rich.This game requires no skill whatsoever, to excel all you need is common sense and a large amount of free time.Ater a while you will realize that there is no point to the game like I did, for example the hardest quest for free players is to slay a dragon, you get a special shield ( worth less than some of the cheapest armors ).Many items are grossly overpriced, party hats, masks and crowns are some of them, where an entire set o adamantium armor (4th level) will cost a couple thousand gold a single party hat which gives you no benefiets to your character can cost millions.So before you get hooked on this game you should know the facts, and I for one am glad I could bring them to you.

this game is totally brilliant. basically u get an entire new universe to play with, what more can u want? loads of stuff to do, can keep u amused for hours on end and u dont have to pay for half of it! become a member, low fees and even more stuff to do! graphics arnt 2 gr8 but with the gameplay who needs it? only one prob u night find it boring at the start. be patient nd it will grow on u tho. gr8 game, kicks ass just be patient!

Read this first

Runescape is one of the best games I've played for years, but it requires dedication and time(when you start playing it your social life might go way down). A lot of people have made the game bad by scamming and hacking. After a while when you play it, it loses its appeal even if you become a member, because all you really do is get stronger than everybody else and be able to brag to other people that you've done all the quests and killed all of the monsters. There are a couple of other MMORPGs that have way better graphics and are free, but require you to download the game client which is about 100MG to 500MG. Overall, Runescape is a good online game, but I wouldn't waste my time on it only if it is much improved. One last advice; when you start playing it, don't believe on anything that other people are saying(lol), because it could just save your account.

Best game ever. Very easy to learn how to play. I have played runescape2 for a while then i played a little Another World. I still havn't figured out that game! Its is way to confusing. The member thing gets so annoying thats the only problem. The creators (Jagex) have done a GREAT job trying to taunt you into getting membership. GREAT GAME!

This java game created by jagex is the best game ever. In order to really enjoy it though you need to become an adict. EASY. I found myself hooked on this game the first day i used it. The graphics are better then in the screenshot though. The screen shot is from runescape 1. Jagex put out runescape 2 about a year ago. If you are continously bored or want something to take up 30% of your day. RUNESCAPE is for you.

Well, I have been playing runescape for around 3.5 years and I have experienced many changes in the game. I have many accounts but forgotten most of them well except for my current one rsn: p u r e pk2. I think runescape started off quite well in the classic version(rs1). But ever since they lanuched rs2, most advantages have gone to the members' side. I mean, yes you pay for what you get, but hmm, rs seriously has some mistake in their markerting stragety. nvm I shall not dwell into this topic.

On the whole, runescape is a nice game BUT it requires time and BRAINS in order to build a successful character. You cannot just spend many hours in front of your screen.

Runescape is a nice game to start with in the mmorpg world. You can play the free version but you won't have too many things to do. the best stuff is and will always be for members - armour, weapons, quests, areas. The game runs pretty ok in the beginning you being able to gain levels quite quickly. After a while it gets very repetitive to the point that you get to hate everything about it. I have played till combat level 102 and total level 1395 and did it in about 6 months. any skill past level 70 is a total pain. you need so much time to actually gain a level that it's not really worth it. and sometimes gaining a level doesn't really get you anything. take the herblore skill for example. you need level 78 to get the ultimate potion. max level is 99 however you don't get anything by getting to that level. herblore is a pretty difficult and expensive skill to raise since you need to buy herbs and secondary ingredients, not to mention water- filled vials. so the point is why would a sane person train that to lvl 99 ? just for the sake of the total level ? skills like mining , smithing , crafting and fletching will really affect you health - you will click so many times that your fingers will actually start hurting. i got to 85 fletch so i can make the long magic bows and it was more than a pain. it was absolutely crazy. bottom line you don't stand chance unless you are prepared to play 24/7 , 7 days a week. i keep reading comments from people that have played till lvl 42 and can't stop smiling. anything under lvl 90 doesn't mean a thing. anyone can play and get to lvl 50 fast. but that won't accomplish anything because such a small lvl will never allow you to do anything in this game. so the choice is yours. the game can be fun for a while. but once you get in the "elite" team ... past lvl 100, everything is so damn repetative and boring that it's not worth it anymore. there only a few weapons and armour. you need to get to lvl 60 attack and defence to be able to wield dragon weapons and wear dragon armour. and after that ? nothing. also 90% of the people only try to scam you and get your money for nothing. personally i have never been hacked or scammed, but many of my friends have. well this is my oppinion. the decision ( and the lost time ) is yours.
jagex staff ( the ones that made the game ) are absolutely stupid. i noticed recently an attitude from Andrew - the game maker complaining that someone made a program - swiftswitch that makes your gamer life easier and at the same time removing the adverts that you have to watch when you play the free version. while i can totally simpathise and understand how upsetting that is, i cannot understand why doesn't he improve the runescape client so you as a player can have a more enjoyable experience instead of having to do everything the hard way.

I am not talking about the non updated non-members world, I am talking about the gigantic members world. When I first started, it was hard to lv up, but now, as a lv 77, with high non combat stats, I believe that this is the game for MMORPG fantasy fans.

very good game that doesnt require a download.You can pay a very little amount of money (price varies with how you pay) to become a member and do alot more things. before you do that i recommend playing the free version until you reach combat level 40 and about 20 quest points then move on to the members severs and pay if you want to.
there is no competition this is a very good game and it isnt like all those others where you are watching a still screen this is 3d and you can move around, explore and the game gets updated regulary. You are a fool not to try this game out!!!!

Dont belive the other posts about hackers i have been playing for about a year now and havent been hacked once. There are scammers but if you actually belive what they say then you kinda deserve to get scammed for not being able to tell the difference. There is lots to do in the free area and even more to do in the members area. I am a member and i found the price alot better then some other games i was planing to pay for. I think this is a must play game if your into fantasy roleplaying!

This is THE BEST free MMORPG I have EVER played! It is completly free... and it is run by Java! So, you don't have to worry about downloading it! You can also pay $5 a month and get the RuneScape Members version. This version gives you access to about 15 more places then non-members. You can also do much more quests and get much better weapons and armor. I would recommend using the free version first... and after you know if you like it, then get the Members version. This game is the best!

Runescape, in short, is basically a different world to our own. this is a world of monsters, quests, and heroes. it is also a very fun world, and is browser based, so it requires no download. when you start you choose your caharacters appearence, and are greeted to an island called "tutorial island" where you learn the basics of how to survive. these include fighting, fishing, cooking, woodchopping, magic, and so on. then you are whisked away to the rest of the runescape world. from there, basically, your life in Runescape is basically fighting, earning money(somehow), making friends, and leveling up. by the time you reach arond level 5, you get hacked by some schmuck who is a noob hater. by level 20 or so, you finally realise what the lyrics of the song "it's a small world" mean. This gets repetitive quickly, as does the game.

To summarise, runescape is a game where it's wonderous early on, but slowly and surely sinks into a world of scammers and repetitiveness. I'm not saying this game is bad, nor am i saying this is a very x 1000 good game, im saying give it a go, see what its like, maybe become a member, but dont pour all of your time into it, as you'll get nothing in return.

I have been trying internet RPGs all week long and so far Runescape is still my most favorite RPG. This is so great because you have many skills to train and the interaction between you and the NPCs and other players is great. You make tons of friends in this game and it never gets boring.
I have been playing Runescape for nearly a year and I got tons of accounts. I find that warriors are more superior over mages and archers. You can use ranger armor when your a warrior for defense against mages. There are also many weapons to choose from. From daggers to long swords to battle axes and two-handed swords, I like battle axes the best.....

i have played this game for many years and i never get tired of it. some times it does seem point less becasue it dosent really have an end but that is what lets u just keep playing it over and over. people say hacking is a proublem i have played the game for about 7 years now and i have never been hacked. its just stupid people that cant make a good password. the graphics have been up dated they still arnt great but are good for beeing free. if u become a member there is so much u can do even thought there is a lot to do if u arnt a member. the game can be kind of hard on newbs becasue some ppl on the game are jerks. i cant find a reall proublem with this game.

I definetly suggest this game to EVERYONE who likes online multiplayer adventures. get levels in things like cooking and fishing (etc). fight monsters to get the objects or money they drop. even kill other players in the wilderness. and thats just the NON members games.

Awsome game, been playing for, about 2 years now i think, hasn't disapponted me yet. The only thing you have to watch out for are scammers and hackers. If you want to make sure nothing bad happens t you can password consantly, and never really trust anyone. Other then those people who do that it's awsome.

This is one of the only good and actual graphical free MMORPGs out there. I love thsi game, I play Runescape 2, and most bad reviews were for the old Runescape classic(looking like paper on a 3d world). Runescape 2 has vastly improved graphics, new features, new items, quests, and monsters. In Runescape 2 hacking was reduced buy a lot, there are now better botting detection, and firewalls, the chanches of actually being able to hack into Runescape 2 are very slim. This game is great, I cannot stop playing it, there is so much to do. Not to long ago after have done every non-member thing I got bored, I was a high enough level, had full rune, and other sets like adamant(G), and Black(G), I had loads of money, hgih stats, and face it, I was bored... I finally decided to become a member not to long ago, and I fell in love with the game all over again. Theren were so amyn more features, quests, areas, and items! I havn't been bored since the day i became a member, I always have something to do.
I am a level 74.

If you havn't played Runsecape then do it! Thay have updates like everyday! Like new items, areas,most of all quests, etc... If you havn't played it in awhile, play it! The hacking problem is reducingand reducing but the main reason why people are hacked is because of there password, duh! Not like this: eg. cooking, like this: eg. cooking45645 (Numbers or symbols people!), thats the best reducing way from being hacked. So play the best game ever and if you want more fun, be a member!!!! Just try it thats all I'm going to say to make you!

Damn, this game is great!!!
When i saw the screenshots I was a little worried about the loading-time, but it went great! My PC is really crap, but the time he takes loading is shorter than 1 minute!
Enough about that, let's talk about the game:
The game just kicks ass, that's it! It's just the best online rpg game ever!
I've got no other words for it...
The graphs, the action, the sim-like experience you get, the trading with other players, everything is cool!! (except the sound-effects).
Tlking about multiplayer, damn, everywhere you walk (or run) you see people doing their things. You can talk to anybody!

ADVANTAGES:1.This game lasts a long time. 2. You will get used to it if u play more. 3. U don't hafto pay 2 play.3. U don't have to download!

Runescape is a fun game. It has lots of stuff to do and its free (you get more stuff if u pay). The graphics arent that great, but game play makes up for it. The biggest problem is the hacking. I played for 2 months and got hacked so much it was riduclus. If you don't mind that then play, it's amusing, passes the time, and you can make quite a few friends.

The bottom line is that the total no. of players playin this game can go upto 30000 at peak hours and with a registered users upto 300000. It redifines a good RPG that fast and can be played with the very minimum requirements on your browser. You've got a wide range of attributes taht you can work on....like combat, magic, prayer, ranging, cooking, fishing, herblaw, thieving, and lots and lots more. Jus log in and create your new character. Make friends trade weapons, armour, and make lots of money.

runescape is the best game i ever played in the whole wild world. you can be a knight-strong but slow, mage-strong, good in long rage but weak armour, or archer-good, quick, or i must say the best kind. When i first started playing this game it was fun but then i got hacked and lost my items after hard work. I had rune and tons of gold..... Now i dont play it. But its easy to play because you just have to choose a Username and password.

This game is awesome! You can cook, eat, fight, meet people, join "clans", go on quests, mine and smith metals, and so much more! It's a little complicated at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's awesome! What the game lacks in graphics it makes up in everything else. There's a tutorial at the beginning, so don't worry. There are only two things I find not so great about the game - the fact that you're limited a bit because you can become a member and pay, and also that Runescape is kinda slow on older computers. But you can still do so much on a free account - I play on a free account and it hasn't hindered me! You can choose to become a member though, and it's supposed to be awesome!!! And most computers work okay on Runescape. If it happens to take a while to load up, don't worry, it's completely worth it!!! Good luck and have fun playing!

OK, this game was ok at first. The gameplay seemed good, the graphics looked cool. There are plenty of skills to master, and tons of players to interact with. But after a while, it just gets boring. You log on, and you realize you want to get up your smithing level, for example, to make some cool armour you've seen everyone wearing. You spend maybe 45 minutes to an hour training up your skill, and you go up a level. "Yay" you say to yourself, "i can make some steel claws!" you then notice that there is something even better to make, and you spend another hour training up. Then there's something better, and you spend another hour... The cycle goes on, and unfortunately, its the same for practically all the skills.
Not only does it get deadly boring, there are constantly people insulting you about your level. I think the most commonly used word on that game are "noob". You can't walk anywhere without someone insulting a person about something. Its just damn depressing!
Not only are there the people that insult you, there are the other people, the "hackers" or "scammers" of the game. They seem nice enough, giving you a "sweet deal" for the rarest item on the game! Of course the "rare item" is just some stupidlt common item they are trying to flog off for an outrageous price.
The other scams there are include the good old "give me your password and i'll give you 1 million gold" trick. Jeez, this is just low, and just pathetically obvious, but still people fall for it.
The thing that cheezes me off the most is the forums section, the "rants". My brother sent in a perfectly valid comment about how he thinks the game is letting itself down, and the forum "mods" banned him from the forums, and erased his thread. Now is it just me or is that a bit strange?
As many of the above reviews say, jagex themselves don't care about what the players say about what they think could be improved. And if the players complain, guess what, their thread gets barred.

I hope this has given you an idea of what i think of runescape, and please, if you dont to waste A LOT of your time, don't even think about the word "Runescape"

I liked runescape, but that was a year ago, what is the POINT of this game!!! Do you just run around doing quests? Anyway, I got sort of lost (I guess it's my fault) too easily.
Runescape is programmed in Java so you can't really expect the best graphics on the planet, the fighting system could have been improved instead of people throwing sticks and little bubbles over people's heads describing the damage. I got absolutely NO help in the noob town, in fact, some idiot with shoes led me to the PK area and left me there to get eaten by a troll.
I guess I could really appreciate this game if the animations weren't crappy and everything looked flat on a 3D world.
Sigh....boooring....

Those who think wrongly of this game are wildly mistaken to do so. This is an amazing game, very simple to understand, free (but you can pay for full version, only $5 or £3.20 a month). If you want to play a good online game and chat to people easily, play this.

However, the picture you see above is the old version of RuneScape. It has been upgraded to a proper 3D game.

Well the screenshot up there is the old version. The newer one is MUCH better. Anyway there are many skills from fishing, cooking, woodcutting, firemaking, the four combat stats ( attack defense and strength ) AND much much more. There are a total of 19 skills and more to be added. It is completely free, there is no limitations to how long you can play. But you can pay $5 US a month for the premium version. The free version has 18 quests and the premium version has about 50+. Overall: This is the best game I've game....best..and free.

When you first play RuneScape (RS), you'll be on tutorial island. And it's really boring there. But when you get off that island..... you'll get lost. What you need is a map of RS world. Open the map (that can be found on the site when you are playing it). And you'll find your way through.

About those who said RS is a lousy idiotic game... watch your mouth! Nah...ignore them. Those who criticized RS are called "insignificant foolish barbarians" that are not civilized. What more can you get from a browser-based MMORPG? Ok, tell me which browser-based MMORPG that can compare with RS? Which browser-based MMORPG that has great 3D graphics? Which browser-based MMORPG that has great music? Which browser-based MMORPG that has such a large world to explore and so many things to do that you don't even have to download a large executable file?!!! RS is browser-based, unlike other MMORPGs you don't have to download large executable files like the Shattered Galaxy that has been introduced somewhere here by the bitch! You can play this game from anywhere. Even in your school, office, home, and no high system requirements. Tell you guys, the music of RS is extremely great! Some rocks, some can be your lullaby... But you need to play in high-detailed mode to hear them.

Ok let's ignore those insignificant foolish barbarians that are not civilized. Get to the website, sign up and play it. Get used to it, and you'll believe me that those who criticized RS are really just n00bs who are poor insignificant foolish barbarians that ain't civilized.

Dont waste too much time on it

Runescape is a great game but is gets boring at the end. When you reach a high level like over lvl 80, you get bored. My main character {highoctane} is at lvl 146{member} and theres nothing much to do except stacking up money/rare items. But is you are a new player then runescape isn't half bad. If you decide to play, go to www.runescape.com and play RuneScape 2{RS2}
Most of the old reviews are about RS1. The game is totally free unless you want to become a member. I recommend you try it, its great!
TIPS:
1.If you have any trouble, go to www.tip.it/runescsape it has all info. DONT GET RIPPED OFF by players!!!!!! Learn the stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2.(Be the stongest and kill the most people/real players in wilderness)To make the best pure/pker/fighter, train on attack and strength only. Train attack to 40(40att. is rune weapon) and strength to whatever you want. DONT TRAIN ON DEFENCE, NOR MAGIC, RANGE, OR PRAYER. These raise lvl. If you want to make something else, dont follow these rules. This is for the best pure.
Have him wear these items: Rune scimmitar(scimmys are fastest), a diamond ammy, and 1 strength potion(full). Bring good food too.
Do no wear armour, it provides additional damage from mages in wilderness + its weight slows you down and comsumes energy.
3.Best way to make money is your a -noob-. Get you mining lvl to 30 or above to mine coal. (lvl 40 mining recommended) Coal sells for atleast 100gp each. Rich people buy for 150 each. (The better picaxe you have, the faster you will get it)
4.When you attack mosters, they will chase you. check their lvl before you attack. (They will only chase you a short distance)(Some mosters are agressive, be ready to run)
5.If you die, you lose all items except for the 3 most valuable ones. If you have a skull on your head, you will lose all. It would be wise to store you stuff at bank.

The Best Game Ever (And It's So addicting!!)

RuneScape is my favorite MMORPG because its free (if youre not a p2p player which costs 5$ a month) but its very addicting because you can train your guys by fighting over 200 monsters including: Goblins, ghosts, rats, spiders, hobgoblins, zombies, skeletons, deadly red spiders, moss giants, dragons (many different types; red, black, king, etc.) and many more monsters!! You can even fight farm animals such as cows and chickens. It also has over 20 quests for the free user, and like 50 for the p2p user. There are so many various quests from using a bucket with a cow to make milk to help a cook, to defeating the Crandor Isle's level 86 dragon. The map is huge, with a tutorial island at th beginning of the game to help you play. RuneScape also has NPC's (non-player conrtolled) characters that will say things to you and you have many stats to train such as: Strength, Attack, Defense, RuneCraft, Magic, Archery, Prayer, plus many more! i strongly recommend this game to anyone looking for a good game to play. I've been playing it since it started and i have to say, its improved a lot. I'd say the p2p member thing is definitely worth it too. this is the best game on this website it has all the best stuff on it no buts about it play it you can do so much so become a free member now do it!! for the sake of jagex

you can be
archer problem must buy arrows
knight
mage problem must buy runes
also can be a chef or blacksmith to get money

it is weird but it will get u rich
it has loads of free quests BUT if you pay for the game you get LOADS LOADS more also you get to go to new places AND IF YOU DO NOT LIKE CROWED SPACES JUST GO TO MEMBER ONLY PLACES THERE WOULD BE LIKE 534 PEOPLE THERE I COULD BE WRONG

THERE ARE LOADS of wepons though the scimitar is probaly the best

another good thing is that there is not ONLY rune scape BUT rune scape classic which is not as good as the current one but is sort of harder than the current version for eg a man in rs(rune scape) is just level 2
a man in rsc(rune scape clasic) is level 9
you start off lvl 3 in both games

i have been playing this game for several years, and i have found that this is the single best free graphics game. my name on the game is kupomaster .as the game has 2 versions so u can play on the classic game , or the new improved version which is updated every week at leastt once.

this game has good graphics for a free game good detail cosidering u dont have to pay this game has a huge number of skills too
there are basic combat skills attack, strength, defence and hp but thats only around a tenth of the game there are a large nuber of monsters (larger in the members parts) and you can make your armor or buy it theres untraditionall combat like bows and magic and many other skills that serve purposes i highly reccomend you try this great free game and JAGex would be happy if you decided to become a member to complete other quests, defeat other monsters and learn new skills while exploring new lands

ive been playing for about a year now theres the free play version and theres the p2p version its only 5$ a month! and free play is the same but u can acsess every place im a member i encourage u to signup and play!!! the picture u see above is old u can play that version or u can play a new 3d version like steel sword said,rs2 this game is great!

I've been playing runescape Ever since it came out and let me tell you, this game will leave you with lots to do. just as the game's description states: there are quests to complete, monsters to kill, and tresure to win. Best of all its free to play and almost anyone who has a PC can play it. There are two versions of the game. The first version is called Runescape Classic. This was the game that started this HUGE community of players. This version is very simple and has very simple graphics too. You level up your character by killing monsters, using magic spells, and ranging (archery). This is only a very brief summary of Runescape Classic, to find more go to the games website.

The next version is the most recent has more options than the first one. It is just called Runescape (originally named RS2). It has the same aspects of its old version only with improved graphics, better combat system (find more about that at the games website), more players, and much more. To me, I'd perfer the newest version, but hey, thats just me. Find more about this version at the games website.

The last thing I want to talk about it something called Runescape Members. The free version has lots to do, but if you want to experience the full thrust of this game I'd highly recomend you become a member. Keep in mind though, if you become a member you should become one after you skill total is over 350 (find more about skill total at the games site). I is very cheap to become one ($5 a month in US currency). I don't want to spoil anything else...s owhat are you waiting for, sign up and start playing!

What A Game

This is a truley awsome game. I have been playing it for a year and still love it.

U could chosse to be:
Knight
Ranger
Mage
Weapon smith
chef
fisherman
crafter

and more if u ever decide to pay for more

The tutorial may be be a bit boring but when ur pit in the real world of runescape there is so much fun

I LIKE IT ALOT BUT THE PROblem is that i can be on it for like 25 seconds this my computer either crashes or auto restarts!

Not reccomendable for people who cant use shockwave!!

A ruined game

I played this game for over 2 years. It was a great experience until the decided to do away with it and replace it with a different name, calling it Runescape despite it not being so!
The game went from crisp, clear 2d to fuzzy, hard to make out 3D graphics. No wonder they have the origional graphics on here, you wouldn't be able to make anything out if they showed the new ones. This they called an "update"
The combat engine was changed completely overnight. Another "update" when in fact it changed the whole concept of the game.
The strength of the monsters was altered at the same time... You guessed it, an "update".
All the runes that were so important in the origional version suddenly were almost worthless. Updated I guess.
Truth is, they made a completely new game and called it Runescape, leaving the original game to die with no updates and not even a high score table!
Jagex (the makers) really have no respect for their customers views. They run a forum where hundreds of players have complained about the fact they have simply ignored the wishes of the original Runescape players, yet the continue to ignore them.
The new game is simply a copy of many 3D games on the net and has lost the originality that Runescape had.
If you like 3D games, then you may like this one, but theres loads more you'd like better!

More words: Runescape is the best (only really) free GRAPHICAL mmorpg...i wasted hours looking through text-based, turn-based email games and then stumbled across this. My computer had the processing power of a bucket so it didnt run well, but i played this game 12 hours solid once. then i got my brother and all my friends hooked on it. the game has, i admit, become less lacking in the l33t department, but just ignore the players called 'L33T K3WL N008' and have fun.
sorry im rambling here and im pleased if uv read this far. the game has excellent features (and iv never even been a member - i tried talking the powers that possess credit cards into it but u kno wat theyre like) but the game still rocks.

Two more words: PLAY NOW

this game is really stupid and boring, their is no need to this game. The only good thing about it is the grafix and sound the rest is stupid. Only fun thing to me is making a char, but still it is a useless game! the controls also suck like walking and u get lost so easy, u dont even know the name of the town untill u ask someone! my score is acctually -5!(if u really want a game simmilar but more fun play Terra world at www.terraworldonline.net lotz of fun!)

This game is the best! Mine, smith, cook, player kill, train, etc. You can make clans, join em, have clan wars, make allies. It rules! Absolutely NO downside! But watch out for PKers! 10's of thousands of players are on ALL the time! Lots of quests and a wide variety of weapons, armors, and monsters. You can even become an archer or a mage. The graphics have been updated and sound and music tracks have been added. Train as hard as you can until you hit the amazingly high level 123! Theirs plenty of room so come on and create an account. It's totally FREE! But beware scammers who may try to take your account or items... If you become a member you gain acces to tons of new areas, monsters, weapons, and armors! This game is hands down THE best game ever! Enjoy!

I've been playing Runescape for 5 years, and i could find anything near as good except Astonia out of 3 years. Whoever says this game is stupid is because they are. The screenshot up there is only the classic one. Runescape has great graphics now.
