The Five Pillars

The Five Pillars

The Five Pillars is a game where you play the role of a powerful mage controlling your own kingdom. The aim of the game is to develop and expand your kingdom better than any of the other players. You start out with a little patch of land, and your task will be to convert this little country into a huge kingdom. As you create your character, you must choose a magical alignment for it. Five different alignments exist in this world and every one of those has its strengths and weaknesses. You can be a nature mage commanding huge beasts to protect your forests from getting cut down. Perhaps you want to wield the awesome power of the ever raging desert storms into building a powerful empire. You may be interested in the mysteries of the north in the form of elemental magic. Swamps are filled with deadly insects and the practice of dark arts. Or maybe you will be a mountain mage expertising in devastating spells that will crush your enemies? The available magic alignments are Desert magic, Mountain magic, Swamp magic, Elemental magic or Nature magic. Whichever you choose, it should reflect on the style you like to play.

Great Game, Great Community

I have played a number of text-based game over recent years, some of them I only played a number of times and other maybe a few weeks perhaps. The Five Pillars is probably the only text-based game I have played where I stayed the longest. I could tell you that the game is great, but all other text based games are also great if you ask their loyal followers. and truth be told, some elements of this game can be found on other games in this genre. But what set the game apart, and what keeps me coming back for more is the community. It might not have a big community but it is very active and very helpful to new players. In a way the community has become my virtual family, where i would always hang out after a long day in the office and when I desperately needed to unwind.
