Power's Edge
Power's Edge is a free turn-based multiplayer strategy game with diplomacy and roleplaying. Power's Edge is actually many games at once: it has multiple parallel Universes. Power's Edge was designed for "Limited Addiction, Perpetual Play": 2 turns per week, a few minutes per turn. Power's Edge is low bandwidth, modem and webmail friendly, using only email and a web browser (and PDF reader). Power's Edge has been online since June 2000. It's not very graphical; instead, Leaders receive web-page newspapers and maps by email. It's oriented towards busy people who still like to play games, but may only have a few minutes here and there each week.

Note - Our new address is http://www.powersedge.org Responding to previous review: Hrmm! Power's Edge is not "boaring" for those old enough to know how to spell! Or for the dozens of veteran players who have been with us for the past 6 years! Seriously - we don't claim this is a fast-paced kiddie action game. It's a social network strategy game for busy adults. There are only 100 turns per year. The strategic tension builds up slowly (often in behind-the-scenes diplomacy), and wars play out over a few months. When you've carefully built up your nation for a while and then it gets into a war, it's definitely not boring! As I write this, 4 out of 6 active "Universes" are engaged in huge world wars, another is winding down, and the last has just started up. Nothing real boring anywhere!
